Bgames.110mb.com is now 1 year old!!!

Play PSP Tyrian

This site officially turned 1 year old yesterday. I remember attempting to create my first page. It was awful! Then I discovered Flatpress which helped me organize things much easier. I had a pretty boring theme, but after a while I found a much nicer theme. It’s been a wonderful year. Hopefully the next will be even better.

Okay, now PSP Tyrian has 1 level and a boss. I’ve also implemented a cheat system. Enter “Toad” exactly as in the quotations in the code section for a new ship and weapon. To switch weapons stop attacking, hold either left for pulse or right for sonic wave then click X. You can only switch weapons when you’ve got the cheat enabled.

Controls

Analog Stick/Mouse - Move ship
Right Click Mouse/X - Fire weapon
Left then Click Mouse/X - Switch to pulse cannon
Right then Click Mouse/X - Switch to sonic wave

Game of the Month - Tower Defence II

This is officially the first Game of the Month! I’ve decided to find good flash games for instant enjoyment! I was seriously impressed with Tower Defence II. This time both Josh and I will do reviewing on the Game of the Months instead of just me. The first section is the score I give it and then my review, the second is Josh’s score then his review and the third is the combined score.

Tower Defence and Tower Defence II were both made by Pixelshocks.

Brandon’s Review

Gameplay - 10
Graphics - 9
Music/Sound - 8
Story - N/A
Overall - 9
Difficulty - 6

Gameplay is simply amazing. Enemies will go through an area of your choosing. Their goal is to make it to the end without getting destroyed. Your job is to build towers to defeat them. There are six different towers you can choose and you can even upgrade towers! There are a variety of levels, different game modes and much more. The mouse is the source of interaction in this game.

Graphics are great. Things are very smooth and look good almost all the time. Things do get a bit messy when you have a lot of towers, but the towers can be set to transparent to fix this.

The music is good, but it’s just a continuous loop. It would have been better if there were a variety of music, but that would have increased loading times. There are a lot of different sound effects to make up for the music.

There are built-in instructions that are quite helpful. You should know exactly what to do in no time. Tower Defence II gets harder as the game progresses. If you’re skilled enough you should be able to beat most levels with ease. For a real challenge you should try an endless game and see how long you can last.

You should definitely give this game a try! Josh and I have both played and enjoyed this game. If you like strategy games then you’d probably like this. It also contains some RPG-like elements.

Josh’s Review

Gameplay - 10

Music/Sound - 7
Story - N/A
Overall - 8.33
Difficulty - 9

This game doesn’t have that good graphics or sound but the game is so much fun.

I can’t stop playing this game! In the game, you have a town and enemies will come in. To defeat them you must buy towers and people inside the tower shot the enemies automatically.

At first it seems easy but don’t underestimate the game…

Combined Score

Gameplay - 10
Graphics - 8.5
Music/Sound - 7.5
Story - N/A
Overall - 8.67
Difficulty - 7.5

It seems like we both agree that the gameplay is totally awesome. Josh seems to think that the graphics aren’t very good, but I find them fine. We both agree on the music, but it seems like we’ve got different opinions on the difficulty.

Well, that’s it for September’s Game of the Month. Look for October’s and enjoy this fine game!

Week of learning Actionscript

Play PSP Tyrian

I actually kind of like Flash now! I’m sure most PSP owners are aware that the PSP (2.7 firmware and above) can run .swf files using the browser. I’ve been trying to devolop a Tyrian fangame that will run at a decent speed on the PSP. This has been a lot of trouble especially since I only began working with Flash to make games a week ago. The PSP will lag a bit when you fire two pulses and there are three enemies around, but other than that it should be fine. I wanted the game to run at 30 FPS, but I think that’s unrealistic for a game like this. I cut the FPS down to 20. I just wish Actionscript was a little more efficient.

Anyways enjoy this extremely small ENDLESS flash game. You can’t lose yet, so you don’t have to dodge the enemies if you don’t want to. If you want to put it on the PSP use the save as method (right click and select “save as” on most browsers). I recommend creating a folder at the root of your PSP and store flash games there. Use file:/Folder/PSP%20Tyrian%200.1.swf to load the game.

Experimenting with Flash

I’ve recently begun experimenting with Flash. I’m progressing pretty quickly, but I still know barely anything. I won’t get in to the details right now because I’m not sure if I will continue with it. I’m developing a Tyrian fangame (space shooter). So far there’s just a ship that lacks transparency that moves around. Game Maker is still the thing I’m going to use for very large projects though.

Anyways since my life has gotten so busy, Game of the Week is now Game of the Month. Sorry to those that liked GoTW, but I need all the time I can get!

Equipping System

I believe that this system will be the second hardest thing to make in this game so far. Your inventory will be able to hold about a few hundred weapons. Each weapon will be customizable. You can add Magites to them to increase their power. The Magites in your weapons will need to be recharged once they run out, so it will be best for bosses.

Unfortunately my life has gotten busy once again. I don’t know when it will slow down, so I might not make as much progress as I hope, but I will still try to get another version out within 2 months.
